LACMTA Westside Purple Line Extension Section 3 Tunnels Project

The Frontier-Kemper/Tutor Perini JV was awarded contract C1151 for Westside Purple Line Extension Section 3—Tunnels Project. This project consists of two (2) bored subway tunnels; 13,680 LF excavated using Earth Pressure Balance TBMs. The tunnels will be lined with pre-cast concrete segments. The first TBM, "Iris," launched in October 2020. The second TBM, "Aura," is currently being assembled. Final project completion is set for February 2023.

3. 13,680 LF (2.56 miles) each of Pre-Cast Concrete Tunnel Segment Installation
4. 14 Cross-Passages each
