24. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (INCLUDE SCOPE, SIZE, AND COST)

Excavation Description and Scope:

ASC provided engineering support to the Contractor, Miller/Watts Construction. The project was overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and included construction of a reinforced concrete box culvert, new bridge foundations, and other flood control and environmental restoration features along the Guadalupe River, between Coleman Avenue and the UPRR Bridge No. 4 in San Jose, California

ASC’s Scope:

ASC provided overall Excavation Instrumentation and Monitoring on the project.

The project involved in-situ testing of about 400 tiebacks, from February to October of 2004.

Performance and Proof tests of the tiebacks were conducted and recommendations were given on changes in site conditions.

Training:

ASC also conducted training on Performance and Proof testing to Contractor’s personnel, towards the end of the contract.

Construction Cost: Approximately $60 Million
