COFFERDAM DESIGN PROJECT

ASC analyzed the design of a cofferdam for recovery of a sunken freigh ter, MN New C arissa , which went agound in a storm about 150 yds offshore, off the coast of Oregon, in Coos Bay. It was loaded with 400,000 gallons of tar -Ike bunker oil; about 70,000 gallons of which spilled into the ocean when the vessel broke apart in pounding waves.

When completed, the analysis would have provided full design of cofferdam and approach trestle, including staged construction details.
