BART SYSTEM-WIDE SEISMIC RETROFIT PROGRAM

Vibro- replacement along the Trans- Bay Tube was conceived to prevent damage to the tube from the next big earthquake as a part of BART’s system -wide Seismic Retrofit Program.

Dr. Oyenuga was the Construction Geotechnical Engineer on the vibro -replacement along the Trans- Bay Tube at the Port of Oakland . He was in charge of verification of the ground improvement program, consisting of Grouting and stone column installations along the Transbay Tube.

He supervised all verification testing on the $12 M project, including :

• Cone Penetration Testing (CPTs );
• Hydraulic Conductivity Testing (HCTs );
• Large Penetration Testing (LPTs ), and;
• Standard Penetration Testing (SPTs) .

Dr. Oyenuga also provided verification for the grouting program.
